The Jefferson County Picnic is an annual event, held on the first Monday in February at the Zephyrhills Lions Club in Zephyrhills, Florida.  It is a reunion/gathering of anyone living in Jefferson County, New York, or who came or once lived in Jefferson County, New York and is in Florida at the time of the event.

The first "picnic" was held in 1953.  Doors traditionally open at 10 AM with lunch served at noon.  Admission is $3 to support the organization.  There are drawings, door prizes, raffles and entertainment.  In the past, attendees either bought a dish to pass or a lunch of their own.  The 2017 gathering was the 65th annual and a new concept in that it was graciously sponsored by Billy Fuccillo of the Fuccillo Car Companies.  Because of this generosity, over 200 people enjoyed a "free lunch" on Billy and the company of many friends, old and new.
The following letter of thanks was sent to the Fuccillo organization:

The Jefferson County Picnic wishes to thank you for your contribution to our 2017 picnic.  We have been having this event for 65 years consisting of Jefferson County residents who have retired and reside in Florida for the winter or who have moved and made this their next home.  It gives everyone a chance to meet up and visit with old friends and meet the next generation who will be taking over the event.  We have had as many as 672 (in 1998) and as few as 65 (in 1974).  The last few years have been between 200 and 300.  They travel from all areas of Florida to attend this event each year.

The first few years the picnic was held outside, getting its name, but finally found a home at the Lions Club in Zephyrhills.  Inflation has made this a bit of a struggle to keep this going, not only the price of gas for people to attend, but the cost to use the facility for four hours, $560.

So we wish to thank you again for your generous donation.  It put a little extra excitement into the event when people found out that Billy Fuccillo was making the contribution for the food.  It was a fun day for all.
